What are the different types of braces?
The most common used braces are the metallic ones. For patients seeking esthetics while doing orthodontic treatment, they can choose among different types of braces such as the ceramic braces, the “invisible” braces also known as hidden or lingual braces. And last but not least, there is another solution where NO BRACES are needed to move your teeth. It’s called invisible or Clear aligners.
Lingual braces or Invisible braces !
Lingual orthodontic treatment is an alternative to traditional treatment, designed to satisfy patients who wish to have their teeth aligned but do not want the labial brackets that shows when they talk or smile. Lingual braces are custom made fixed braces bonded to the back of the teeth making them invisible to other people. Don’t confuse them with so-called “invisible” braces, which are merely semi-transparent ceramic or plastic attached to the front of the teeth.
How are Braces done?
Our orthodontist will bond the brackets to your teeth from outside or inside depending on each case. Afterwards, he will place a metal wire that will apply pressure to the teeth in order to move them into the desired position. You will have to come every 3-6 weeks for some adjustments and the average time for a complete orthodontic treatment is around two years. After completing your treatment you will have to wear a retainer to ensure that your teeth will not move again.
