GUM GRAFT & COSMETIC SURGERIES
Gingival Recession
Gingival recession or receding gum is a term used when the root of a tooth is exposed due to gum loss. A soft tissue graft will cover the receded area and reduce tooth sensitivity. In the majority of cases, the graft is taken from the patient own palate (autograft). For patients who prefer not to use a gum graft from their own palate, other solutions are available such as:
Alloderm®: A donated medically-processed human skin tissue
Mucograft® or Mucoderm®: A unique 3D collagen matrix designed specifically for soft tissue regeneration
Each technique and material used has its own pros and cons. During your first consultation, we will advise you which technique is the best one for you.
