GUM THERAPY

What is Gum Therapy?

Gum therapy consists of removing the bacteria and debris around the teeth and gums. For mild cases, this procedure can be as simple as normal scaling or cleaning, with the implementation of adequate brushing and flossing. The more severe the inflammation, the more advanced the treatment will be. Sometimes the only way to access and clean the roots is by doing an “open flap surgery”. This process will allow us to clean the roots intensively and make sure there is no residual debris.

It is imperative for you to know that without yearly maintenance and good oral hygiene, all the work will go in vain and the inflammation will return.

How is Gum Surgery Done?

The goal of this surgery (also known as pocket reduction surgery) is to remove the tartar that has accumulated on the roots and under the gum. The soft tissue flap is lifted and then sutured to the newly cleaned roots.
